Python Coding -- Mrs. Brewer was able to contact Ms. Taura from the Lexington Public Library to come teach us some Python coding this year. Ms. Taura was able to visit with us twice. She was able to teach us the basics with Hello Hal 9000. We all programmed with Ms. Taura. We even have one student who decided to make her own program in Python this year. Thank you Ms. Taura for all your help!!!
Girls Who Code Advocacy DayBSMS Girls Who Code travelled to Frankfort to attend Girls Who Code Advocacy Day. We went in support of Bill, HB 263, which would require that Kentucky start tracking and reporting who is taking computer science classes. Our goal is to close the gender and minority gap in those being exposed to computer science courses. Lawmakers gave a presentation in the Rotunda for about 100 girls. Lunch followed with our students presenting their coding projects to Legislators. All of this while learning how our government works!
